Resumen

Critical ischemia of the lower limbs can seriously impair the quality of life of patients due to the intense pain associated with it and the amputation that can result in those who are not candidates for revascularization. Therefore, it is worthwhile to search for therapies that provide a recovery option for this group of patients. We describe the case of a 71-year-old male patient with critical ischemia in the right lower limb, associated with severe ulceration and infection, with an indication for amputation, who was saved from this procedure by the intramuscular administration of autologous bone marrow stem cells. The intramuscular administration of autologous bone marrow stem cells could promote angiogenesis and the survival of amputation.
