Objective: To determine the frequency and association of metabolic and psychological disorders with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) in women of childbearing age treated at three health centers in Chiclayo, Peru, between June and September 2023. Materials and methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out on a sample of 385 women aged 18 to 45 years, selected using non-probability convenience sampling. PCOS and metabolic disorders variables were documented in medical records; depression, anxiety, and stress were assessed using the DASS-21 scale. Results: The women had a mean age of 30 years (SD = 6.9) and 66.8% were single. 13.51% had PCOS, 60.4% had depression, 36.5% had anxiety, and 63.5% had stress. Among the metabolic disorders, 28.8% had metabolic syndrome and 15.6% had diabetes mellitus. PCOS was significantly associated with metabolic (aPR=1.35; 95% CI: 1.03–1.76; p=0.028) and psychological (aPR=1.44; 95% CI: 1.25–1.65; p<0.001) disorders. Conclusions: PCOS is associated with metabolic and psychological disorders (stress, anxiety and depression), highlighting the need for a comprehensive approach to its management.
