Objective: Determine the prevalence of of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and associated factors (knowledge of symptoms and sociodemographic characteristics), in Peruvian women, according to the 2020 demographic and family health survey (ENDES). Methods: Study crosssectional analytical and retrospective, in a population of 16,197 women between 12 and 49 years old. Results: The sample was characterized by an age range of 30 to 49 years (52%), higher
education level (33.7%), poor wealth index (48.6%), and urban origin (72.6%). Furthermore, 63.8% were married or cohabiting, had a 17-year-old age at first sexual intercourse, and had two sexual partners. The frequency of self-reporting of STDs was 0.70% (95% CI: 0.60-0.80). The majority of women had a low level of knowledge about STD symptoms in women (70.5%; 95% CI: 70.30-71.69). Likewise, the high level of knowledge about the symptoms (p <0.001; aOR: 5.32; 95% CI: 2.79-10.16), and having had more than two sexual partners (p 0.003; aOR: 1, 80; 95% CI: 1.22-2.66), meant a greater probability of self-reporting an STD. Conclusion: Greater knowledge about STD symptoms and a greater number of sexual partners were positively associated with a bigger report of STDs in Peruvian women in 2020.
