Knowledge and practices related to the prevention and diagnosis of cervical cancer, in users with comprehensive health insurance of external office of the Santa Maria De Cutervo Hospital

Objective. Determine the level of knowledge and practices on cervical cancer prevention and diagnosis in users of 20 to 59 years of age who attended the outpatient clinic of the Santa María Hospital in the Cutervo district of the Department of Cajamarca. Material and Methods. Observational, Cross-sectional Study; performed at the Santa María de Cutervo Hospital; We selected 340 users from 20 to 59 years of age who attended the hospital's outpatient clinic, by a non-probabilistic sampling for convenience, during the period from November 2015 to March 2016. Information about knowledge and practices was obtained by personal interview applying a survey validated by specialists. The data was analyzed using the statistical software SPSS, version 22 for Windows. Results. 75% of the users surveyed presented insufficient knowledge level and 47.6% presented an inadequate level of practice, there is no user that qualifies as Adequate. Conclusions. The study population has insufficient knowledge level, and Intermediate practices on cervical cancer.
